Transformational Home Décor From Christmas to Easter

We love the idea of re-using some of our favourite festive bits and bobs to make our homes look even better than Peter Cottontail’s place at Eastertime. And the rage this year is all about simply altered home décor. See how easily you can change it up from Christmas to Easter with our transformational Easter decorating tips.

Aside from traditional colours, festive characters and an egg or three, there is not much difference between how you could or should decorate your home for Easter and what you did at Christmastime. And the great news is you don’t need to start all over again. With a few simple Easter decorating tips and tweaks here and there, you can have a beautifully decorated home for Easter in a jiffy.

Following are some of our favourite ways to transition Christmas décor into Easter pieces for around the home.

#1 Transformational Easter Decorating Tip – Create an Easter Tree

We all know how magical a Christmas tree can look when it is beautifully decorated for the festive season. But how many people can say they have seen a tree decorated as equally-gorgeous for Easter too? We simply love the idea of re-using the star of the Christmas show as part of our Easter decorating tips and tricks.

To create your own Easter tree, just remove any decorations that are uniquely Christmas; such as festive characters like Santa, bells and holly. A typically Easter theme is based around pretty pastel colours too. So, if you have bright coloured tinsel or ribbons, you might want to remove those. Or simply strip your tree back to bare and start from there!

What to do next? Fill the space on your tree with Easter-inspired décor. Here are some Easter decorating tips and ideas for your Easter tree.

Fill It Up with Easter Bows

Using Easter-friendly colours based around pastel, make and create an assortment of giant bows to place on your tree. Assemble larger bows towards the bottom of the tree then make them smaller as you climb your way to the top. Bows are full of visual impact and are excellent space fillers – so, this is an Easter decorating tip that gains maximum impact.

* Easter decorating tip: our ‘Easter plaque and bow sets’ make it very easy if you’re not so savvy with bow creating. Save any stress of making and just pop these straight onto the tree along with their cute matching plaque.

Add Some Tree Decorations

Much like you would have done with Christmas tree decorations, you will need to add some Easter decorations to the tree as well. A couple of small Easter plaques featuring a happy Easter message and some hanging Easter ornaments are ideal.

If you have some Christmas baubles in lighter shades of silver, pastel gold, pinks or light blue, make use of those too. These colours and decorations coincide perfectly with an Easter tree. Alternatively, make your own Easter baubles by filling some craft baubles with Easter décor, such as coloured pom poms, cotton balls, sprinkles or imitation snow.

A personal Easter decorating tip is to surprise loved ones with fillable ornaments featuring their name in our signature hand-written calligraphy. Finish by placing their favourite sweets inside as a wonderful way to celebrate the hoppiest season of the year.

Nestle in Some Florals

You can’t complete any of our Easter decorating tips without beautiful florals and Easter flowers, which are just gorgeous nestled throughout an Easter tree. To keep it visually magical, mix and match floral varieties, colours and textures. Add some flowers sunk low into the greenery whilst placing others protruding from the tree.

*Easter decorating tip: see our full range of Easter flowers and picks to get plenty of inspiration.

Add Your Easter Characters

As well as adding some cute characters amongst the tree bushes, make use of the space around the base of the tree with an arrangement of Easter characters too. Rabbits, chickens, mice, squirrels and Easter ballerinas are some popular choices, many of which feature in our ornament collection.

But for the ultimate base arrangement, check out our Easter straw bunnies. We favour these as a more durable option to place on the floor and they bring plenty of colour, personality and fun to the space.

Light It Up

To light up your tree and complement a delicate theme, add a gorgeous flower garland to weave throughout the greenery. With soft petals, pretty pastels, and the right amount of twinkle, a paper flower garland with fairy lights adds the perfect finishing touch.

Top It Off

For the perfect Easter tree topper, add an Easter wreath to crown your masterpiece. Alternatively, you could make use of a gorgeous Easter ornament, such as an adorable plush bunny, a bow and plaque set. Or, if you prefer a more religious look, a driftwood Easter cross will do the trick.

#2 Transformational Easter Decorating Tip – A Floral Masterpiece

Transform a Christmas floral centrepiece into Easter décor by changing up some of the florals or adding a few extra Easter-inspired pieces. Here are a few ideas:

  • swap out bright-coloured florals with pastels – lilac flower sprays, chrysanthemums, snow ball hydrangeas and ranunculus flowers are some options we have available in our catalogue, that are perfect for Easter décor.
  • nestle a plush Easter bunny or a couple of Easter chickens throughout the florals too. If they don’t fit into your arrangement, place them around the base instead.
  • place a few Bo Ho Glam Christmas Floral Urns around your home, with the help of our friends from The Christmas Cart. Despite the name, these urns are so versatile, they can be used for more than just Christmas decorating. And, if the colours pictured don’t fit into your colour scheme- no problem. A couple of simple swaps and you’ll be set for Easter in no time!

You can make plenty of small changes to existing home or Christmas décor by swapping out some pieces that that will transition seamlessly through celebration and season, without breaking the bank. The important part is having a few good basics to start off with and the rest will flow from there.
